In response to a request from the GoU to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic’s short to medium term impacts on beneficiaries in this project areas and to deepen project outcomes for sustainability, an additional financing (AF) of GAFSP grant of US$7.0 million was approved on June 30, 2021 and became effective on September 9, 2021. Utilization of the additional financing has been slowed down due to the delayed reopening of schools, the main entry point for project implementation in compliance to Government’s guidelines in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, the project has continued to make progress in achieving the Project Development Objectives (PDO), and overall implementation performance has been noted in key areas, including delivery of multisectoral nutrition services at community levels in compliance with the approved Project Implementation Manual (PIM); demonstration and adoption of agricultural good practices; and utilization of community-based health and WASH services at project sites. As of 31 May 2022, the project has disbursed US$ 30.27 million representing 87.4 percent of the total grant amount of US$ 34.64 (original US$ 27.64 + additional US$ 7.0).
