The total number of beneficiaries under the project has increased to 2 million against the final target of 1.6 million (PDO 1). The on-time graduation rate in was around 88 percent against the final target of 75 percent (PDO 2). Two-hundred and four higher education institutions (HEIs) have active accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) or have submitted their Self-Study Reports (SSRs) and 50 HEIs have completed their Academic and Administrative Audits (AAA) against the total end-of-project target of 200 HEIs (PDO). Three hundred and eighty HEIs have completed and uploaded their annual reports against the final year target of 300 (PDO 4). Data from the second round of the satisfaction survey shows both student and faculty satisfaction rates above 80% against the end-of-project targets of 60% for both groups (PDO 5). 6/29/2022 Page 1 of 9 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report MP Higher Education Quality Improvement Project (P150394)  Completion certificates have been received for 40 and are being processed for an additional 6 new Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) buildings constructed under the project.  Transition rate of disadvantaged students in HEIs from the first year to the second year of their undergraduate course has improved to become over 90%.  At least 6000 students from disadvantaged social groups benefited from improved state level financial support for attending HEIs.  First year undergraduate students belonging to disadvantaged social groups benefited from remedial classes in several subjects in at least 137 HEIs.  At least 240 HEIs tracked at least 70% of their graduates over a period of three years.  It has been noted that the practice of academic and administrative audit in HEIs if scaled up and sustained had the potential to become a strong basis for sector-wide quality assurance in the state that can guide funding and act as a complement to the external NAAC process. The state has scaled this activity beyond the project target to an additional 120 HEIs this year and more will go through the process in upcoming years.  There has been a substantial improvement in the execution of development plans by HEIs between the first and two rounds of their funding under the project. The state will continue to support HEIs with their development plans beyond project closure.  Both the Borrower's Completion Report and the World Bank's Implementation Completion Report are under preparation.
