The implementation agency needs to sustain the progress observed in the last four months in the implementation of the Project. The Project needs a restructuring and an extension because of the delays that occurred at the beginning of the Project. The Bank will process the Project restructuring if the Government of Iraq submits a formal request to the World Bank, and an action plan to bring the Project back to satisfactory status. The main progress under the Project are the procurement of the Reservoir R2 and its supervision contract; the completion of the four water distribution network that improved water access to more than 152,700 citizens with 109.2 kilometers of pipes replaced. The rating for the achievement of the PDO is downgraded to Moderately Unsatisfactory due to the inability to achieve the project development objective by the current closing date (May 30, 2023), while the implementation progress rating is kept as Moderately Satisfactory.
