PDOs: The progress towards achieving PDOs is moderately satisfactory. The progress of PDOs are as follows: PDO 1: Number (and % of children in the relevant age group in the program area) of children supported with inclusive distance learning programs - Remote Learning System development work is on-going; PDO 2: Number (and %) of children who were enrolled in grant-supported preprimary and primary level government schools before the COVID-19 pandemic have returned to schools - schools re-opened on September 12, 2021, and first tranche subgrants disbursed to 18,086 (out of selected 20,000 GPE supported schools) to help maintain school safety and hygiene; PDO 3: Remote Learning System to be integrated into the basic education system is likely to be met. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has already committed to sustain the system through its Mid Term Review restructuring of the Fourth Primary Education Development Program (PEDP4). It is expected the Ministry of Education will also incorporate the outputs under its education development program. Implementation Progress: Since the last mission the key progress made: (i) Standard Forms of Agreement (SFA) signed with UNICEF on November 21, 2021 and content production is on-going; (ii) first tranche subgrants disbursed to 18,086 government primary schools for school safety and hygiene maintenance; (iii) teacher professional development and mental health work initiated with the Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka; (iv) student assessment work and the Results Framework Tracking Survey initiated with the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS); (v) 2nd Project Implementation Committee meeting (PIC) held on March 13, 2022 and 3rd PIC meeting held on June 6, 2022; and (vi) CSSR PIU office is almost fully staffed with 16 out of 17 positions filled, including Project Director and all technical consultants. It was agreed that all efforts will continue to be geared on ensuring all activities are completed by closing date of December 2022, and that momentum must be sustained in coming key months. 3. Disbursement: Out of the total Grant allocation of US$ 14.80 million, an amount of US$ 7.47 million, representing 50.5% of the allocated grant, was disbursed as of June 15, 2022.
