Data collection for all surveys has been completed and data analysis, report writing and dissemination is on track. National Sample Census of Agriculture (NSCA) 2020. Data collection for the National Sample Census of Agriculture (NSCA) was completed in 2020 which covered 33,807 farm households and 1,132 Large Scale Farms in Mainland Tanzania and 1,791 farm households and 66 large scale farms in Zanzibar. A data retrieval system with detailed regional and district tabulation options is nearing completion and will be launched in June 2022. Anonymized micro-data were made available on the NBS website for further analysis by researchers. (see. https://www.nbs.go.tz/index.php/en/census-surveys/agriculture-statistics). The findings of the NSCA have already been used to improve agriculture sector policies and strategies, including a reallocation of funding to strengthen agricultural extension services. Further dissemination workshops are 6/17/2022 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Development Support for Tanzania Statistics (P159954) foreseen as well as training for government officials and other analysts on how best to use the survey data to support better decision-making. Three further analytical studies to provide detailed information for policy formulation will be carried out before December 2022. Integrated Labour Force Survey (ILFS) 2020/21. The Integrated Labour Force Survey 2020/21 was completed as scheduled. Data were collected from 11,520 households in Tanzania Mainland and 4,200 households in Zanzibar. A report with an analysis of 14 core indicators was completed and disseminated on 4 November 2021 in the presence of the prime minister (for the report see https://www.nbs.go.tz/index.php/en/census- surveys/labour-statistics/688-integrated-labour-force-survey-2020-21). ILFS findings have been used by the Prime Minister’s Office for Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities in drafting a Youth Employment Strategy, with a review of the National Employment Policy, the National Youth Development Policy and the National Social Security Policy Review all underway in 2022. A full technical report is 90% completed with zonal dissemination workshops planned to begin in June 2022. A post survey review, aiming at improving future surveys, as well as specific reports on child labour, gender differences and time use are expected to be completed by June 2022. Further dissemination workshops are foreseen as well as training for government officials and other analysts on how best to use the data to inform daily decision-making in government and beyond. Three further studies aiming at detailed policy analysis will be carried out before December 2022. National Panel Survey (NPS) (Wave 5) 2021. Data collection of the National Panel Survey was successfully completed in December 2021. A total of 4,717 households that were covered during NPS wave four (2014/2015 NPS) have been revisited and interviewed. A training on data cleaning and analysis was completed and preliminary analysis is scheduled to be completed in June 2022, with report writing planned to start in September 2022. Further detailed analysis will be carried out before December 2022 and three policy briefs are expected to be produced by June 2023. Enumerator training for a field study to compare the current approach for household consumption measurement with a newly proposed 7-day recall interview has been completed. Data collection is expected to be completed in July 2022. High Frequency Welfare Measurement Telephone Survey (HFWMS). Five rounds of the HFWMS have been undertaken, and reports with key results are available on the NBS website. (See: https://www.nbs.go.tz/index.php/en/census-surveys/poverty-indicators-statistics/national-panel- survey/743-tanzania-high-frequency-welfare-monitoring-survey). Two data analysis training using the HFWMS data were provided by WB experts and will help ensure a smooth data validation, analysis and report writing process going forward. Four additional rounds of the survey are foreseen for the coming months with other funding. Digitalisation of Enumeration Areas. Digitalisation and updating information on enumeration areas (EAs) selected for the NSCA, ILFS and NPS survey samples aimed to update knowledge on the representativeness of these EAs. The revision exercise was successfully completed in March 2021 with a total of 3,680 EAs being digitized and information updated. This will greatly enhance analytical opportunities. Lessons learnt from the digitalization exercise provide insights in future cartographic work, including for the digitalization of the EAs for the 2022 Population and Housing Census. Under the World Bank Executed component of the European Trust Fund (P175340) a total of 477 officials have been trained in statistical skills such as on data management and analysis (at basic, intermediate and advanced levels) using Stata, geospatial data analysis and mapping using 'R', data interpretation and report writing, computer assisted personal interviewing (CAPI), and data documentation/ archiving and dissemination, with over 30 percent female participation across all courses. The training participants made use as made of the NSCA and ILFS datasets.
