The Project Restructuring was approved on October 28, 2021 at the request of the government to extend the project's closing date from November 30, 2021 to June 30, 2022. As of May 30, 2022:  the project has benefitted a total of 3,341 youth beneficiaries, surpassing the end-of-project target of 3,000.  85 youth-led community development initiatives were completed in Baghdad: 35 in Abu Ghraib and Ariya, 35 in Sadr City and Municipalities, and 15 in Zayouna benefitting 78,515 community members. They consisted of the following sub-projects: (i) improvement of public spaces: rehabilitation of schools, youth centers and forums, homeless shelters, water supply systems, enhancement of a local public park, street lighting, etc.; (ii) skill-building activities: health, educational and vocational courses, hairdressing and cosmetology courses for the homeless people, mobile maintenance trainings, first-aid trainings, sewing and recycling courses, computer courses, drawing course, pastry-making courses; (iii) social welfare, cultural and sports sub-projects: fitness courses delivered by women to women, physical and psychological rehabilitation of obese people, etc.; and (iv) social or recreational sub-projects for marginalized groups: rehabilitation of kindergarten in camps for displaced persons, installation of playgrounds in IDPs camps. The remaining 15 sub- projects are currently being implemented and expected to be completed by the project's closing date.  As beneficiaries of micro-entrepreneurship support, 730 conflict-affected youth received coaching/ mentoring and matching grants to set up micro-businesses.
