               Third Municipal Solid Waste Sector Development Policy Loan

                                 Meeting of Executive Directors

                                           February 14, 2013



       Executive Directors approved the Third Municipal Solid Waste Sector
Development Policy Loan for the Kingdom of Morocco in the amount of EUR 100
million (US$ 130 million equivalent) on the payment terms and conditions set out
in the President’s Memorandum (R2013-0007).

      Directors welcomed the outcomes achieved to date in the solid waste sector
in Morocco and supported the proposed reforms which will improve accountability
of service providers, provide citizens with new and effective opportunities for
engagement, and help create jobs.

       Directors underscored the critical importance of capacity building,
particularly at the sub-national level. They emphasized the importance of the
gender aspect of this program, noting the Government’s commitment to dedicate a
portion of the eco-tax revenue to improve the economic and social conditions of
waste pickers in the informal sector, many of whom are women. Finally, Directors
emphasized the importance of disseminating the lessons learned from this program
to other countries.
