UNOPS, implementing agency for the Kurdistan Ministry of Health of the (KRG-MOH), completed almost all project activities on March 31, 2012, which is the closing date of the UNOPS/KRG-MOH contract. The KRG-MOH will be responsible for the operation of the project through June 30, 3012. The three Emergency Coordination Centers (ECCs) and radio communication systems have been officially handed over to KRG- Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR5476 MOH. The three major cities of Erbil, Sulaimanyah, and Dohuk are now operating the pre-hospital emergency care system. Emergency medical training has been completed. The March/April mission assessed the functionality of the Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) Framework put in place by the KRG-MOH and because two of the three ECCs are not yet fully staffed and with some technical issues still pending (internet issues, adequate number of phone lines, etc.), a Pre-Launch Action Plan was established in collaboration with the KRG-MOH and the Ministry of Planning of the Regional Kurdistan government.
