Capacity to prepare for and manage disasters has been enhanced in both Punjab and the State, as demonstrated through improved performance in managing COVID- 19 response. The remaining activities mostly pertain to those being financed out of projects savings. The Punjab Irrigation Component worth US$ 80 million has achieved a financial disbursement of US$ 45.76 million (57%) till date. Out of 21 civil works subprojects, 13 are completed while 8 are in progress with the latest expected completion date of May 2021. The PDMA Punjab component worth US$16 million is experiencing some implementation delays with US$6.8 million (43%) with a utilization of 21% till date. In particular, the use of project resources enabled PDMA to become the forefront agency in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and locust emergency. The State Component worth US$29 million has achieved a disbursement of US$24.3 million (86%). Out of 43 civil works subprojects, 30 are completed while 13 are in progress with the latest expected completion date of July 2021. Significant progress has been made in the State on DRM institutional strengthening through procurement of key rescue and response vehicles and machinery.
