                                         Resolution No. 1

                        Extension of Period for Completing Membership


   WHEREAS, Article II, Section 1(a) of the Articles of Agreement provides that the original
members of the Association shall be those members of the Bank listed in Schedule A to said
Articles (such members of the Bank so listed in Schedule A to said Articles being hereinafter
referred to as Schedule A countries) which accept membership in the Association on or before the
date specified in Article XI, Section 2(c);

   WHEREAS, the date so specified in Article XI, Section 2(c) of said Articles is December 31,
1960;

   WHEREAS, Article II, Section 1(b) of said Articles provides that membership shall be open to
other members of the Bank at such times and in accordance with such terms as the Association may
determine; and

   WHEREAS, it is desirable to make provision for the membership in the Association of those
Schedule A countries which shall not have become members on or before December 31, 1960;

  NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Governors, having considered the recommendations of the
Executive Directors, hereby

RESOLVE:

   THAT membership in the International Development Association is approved under Article II,
Section 1(b) of the Articles of Agreement for all Schedule A countries which have not become
members on or before December 31, 1960, and which on or before June 30, 1961, accept
membership in accordance with the provisions of Article XI; and that the terms and conditions of
membership (including, but not by way of limitation, the terms and conditions of subscriptions,
payments on subscriptions, useability of currencies and voting rights) of countries accepting
membership in the Association pursuant to this Resolution shall be those set forth in the Articles of
Agreement with respect to the membership of original members.
