As of 2016, more than 5 million Egyptians were estimated to have CHC, making the prevalence of CHC in Egypt the highest in the world. The NCVVH, at the time, identified nearly 1 million patients who were already aware of their condition, while the remaining patients had yet to be diagnosed.
