Policy, legal and institutional framework for forestry and for conservation: The mission recommended integrating the Terms of Reference for the Legal Review of the Forestry Act of 1988, Wildlife Conservation Act of 1972 and wetland strategies to ensure the consistency between policies. Taking this integration into account and considering the nature and scale of the task involved, as well as the skill-mix necessary for a consultant to be able to deliver on the task, the mission recommended that a qualified international consultant be recruited. 2. GIS system: The GIS equipment has been installed and it is functional, and maps of the three conservation sites have been produced. Conservation Site Management Teams: Temporary accommodation for all three conservation sites is secured and furnished. Quarterly workplans were developed for each site. A field study tour to other conservation sites was organized for the Conservation Site Management Team (CSMT) to increase its capacity in conservation management; 4. Management Plans: The MPs for OKNP and KHFR are now in a process of development following the established master plan and participatory process created for Loma Public Disclosure Copy Mountains; 5. Community Outreach: A Draft communication outreach strategy was developed by the PMT and validated with the community. The implementation of the strategy has already started - support was given to 15 farmers in a pilot program on pineapple farm establishment as part of alternative livelihood support for forest edge communities; 6. Socioeconomic survey: The socio-economic survey for OKNP and KHFR is underway and will inform the creation of the Community Action Plans for these sites; 7. Coordination with Bumbuna project: Ten monthly coordination meetings were conducted in 2012 between the Bumbuna project PMU, BCP PMT, and the Forestry Division to ensure a harmonized approach to both WB projects to optimize resources and synchronize decisions in the implementation of project activities.
