Additional financing and an extension of the closing date were approved in October 2016. Project implementation is substantially complete with all civil work contracts completed except one under implementation. The single remaining contract, which is on a section on E80, is substantially complete but includes a landslide site at Gradinje which requires remedial measures. Achievements include over 40 km of newly built motorway, sections of E80 under Lot6 scheduled to be opened in September after completion of an adjacent tunnel financed by other IFIs, and completed road safety strategy and gender sensitive action plan. Consultant assignments on road sector reform and impact assessment are underway. The Project has achieved its development objective. The Government has requested and extension to: (i) ensure Bank involvement in the remedial measures for a landslide located in Gradinje along the E80 road section constructed in the project, which would involve design, construction, and supervision of the remedial measures, and (ii) continue the financing of technical assistance including engineering supervision consultant contracts that are in place for works financed by other IFIs. The Project components and allocations will remain the same. No new activities will be undertaken. Supervision consultant contracts will be financed and implemented during the Project period including the proposed extension. Supervision of sections of other IFI will be gradually transferred to the respective IFIs. The undisbursed balance is expected to cover the civil works required as part of the remedial measures, supervision consultants, and technical assistance under implementation. The remedial measures design and cost estimates are under preparation and will be ready for Bank review and consideration on or before August 2018. Cancellation of loan proceeds was discussed and considered not feasible at this stage. The Project Implementation Unit is performing satisfactorily, and audits are on time. Financial management arrangements will remain unchanged and are considered satisfactory. There are no overdue financial audits. III.
