The Gambia Social Safety Nets Project
Amendment to the Financing Agreement
Honorable Minister:
We refer to the Financing Agreement, dated November 6, 2019 between the Republic of the
Gambia and the International Development Association ("Association") for the above-referenced Project
(the "Agreenent"). We also refer to your letter dated 4 May 1020, requesting changes to the Project
activities to allow support to a wider range of households due to the negative economic effects of the
COVID-19 pandemic.
The capitalized terns used in this letter ("Amendment Letter") and not defined herein have the meanings
ascribed to them in the Agreement.
Accordingly, the Association proposes to amend the Financing Agreement as follows:
1. The first panqraph of Schedule I is amended to read asf0ols.
"The objective of the Project is to improve the coordination of social assistance activities, provide
temporary social assistance support to rural households in the wake of COVID-19, and increase
inclusion of the extreme poor in the Nafa program.'
2. Part B Ot the Project Desc ription in Schedule I is (amlended to read as /llows:
"Part B: Implementation of Nafa Program of Cash Transfers to the Eligible Households
and Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC)
Implementing the Nafa Program of unconditional cash transfers (Cash Transfer-,) to
Cliible households and SBCC, including: (1) carrying out validation exercises,
registration, training, and impact evaluation, and developing a grievance redress
mechanism and (2) providing the Cash Transfers."
All other provisions of the Agreement, except as herein amended, shall remain in full force and
effect.
