Most of the outcome and intermediate outcome indicators due in the fifth year of project implementation have been met or surpassed. 52 cultural heritage preservation and promotion sub- projects have been completed to date, which have benefited 2.4 million people with improved cultural services offered by cultural institutions supported by the project. The Project is on track to complete at least 82 cultural heritage preservation subprojects. It also continues to be on track to exceed its original target of a minimum of eight Large Window sub-projects completed. To date, two Large Window subprojects have been completed (Tver Traveling Palace in Tver oblast and White Tower in Novgorod oblast), and with six more are at different stages of implementation. Construction work on the Multi-Functional Museum Facility in Leningrad Oblast is progressing well. The Project closing date was extended to June 30, 2022 to enable successful completion of the maximum number of Large Window subprojects. Small Window subprojects continue to progress well and exceeded expectations. Fifty-nine Small Window subprojects have been approved by the Inter- Ministerial Committee as a result of four calls for proposals. 50 of them have been completed, while remaining are on track for completion by June 2019. Local cultural institutions are using resources from the Small Window to invest in multimedia and information and communications technologies. The former improves the quality of services available and attract more visitors, while the latter technologies are enabling larger, more centrally located cultural institutions to connect with those located in remote areas to, for example, broadcast theatre and philharmonic orchestra performances, thus benefiting previously underserved populations. More than 1,350 employees of cultural institutions have been trained in cultural heritage management practices.
