Project implementation is back on track after initial startup delays. Phase I technology demonstration has been completed and evaluated. Six technologies, namely low resistance tire, roof fairing, side skirt, gap fairing, tire pressure monitor and energy efficient driving system, were applied in Phase I of Green Truck Technology Demonstration. There were totally 10 pilot trucking companies in Phase I, involving 145 trucks. The evaluation, carried out in April 2014, concluded that there were energy efficiency outcomes from three of these technologies, namely: low resistance tires, roof fairing and energy efficient driving system. For Phase II, 11 companies with 1284 trucks have been chosen to apply the three proven technologies. In addition, two new technologies, light-weighted aluminum alloy semi-trailers and LNG trucks, will be piloted during Phase II to assess their energy efficiency impacts. According to the statistics of Phase I pilot trucks, the actual collected baseline value was 24.18L while it was 32L in the PAD. And the current actual value is 23.56. The Team and PMO are under discussion about establishing a proper baseline and a proper measurement approach (e.g. using percentage instead of specific numbers). The PMO only has data regarding the fuel costs. The fuel costs have decreased from the initial value of $2.91 to the current $2.6.
