In the Khurja-Kanpur section, land for building the embankment, bridges and track laying is now fully available (390 km). All major CST works and systems contracts have been awarded and are progressing slowly towards completion, with progress in all lots behind original schedule. In the Dadri-Khurja section, 70% (38 Kms out 54 Kms) of land is available to the Civil contractor for work. Transfer of land from Noida Development Authority for 7 Kms (Boraki) is uncertain since Noida Development Authority is yet to compete its resettlement of affected people. CST works contracts have been awarded and works are underway. Technical bids for system works in this section have been received by DFCCIL and are being evaluated. Out of the five major studies initiated, the study on ‘Formulation of Heavy Haul Research Development and Application Program' has been successfully completed. Also, activities including the CPCS report, Track Access Charging, Deloitte Blue print for Heavy Haul Rail Institute and Driver Advisory System have been completed. Some technical assistance funds remain uncommitted. After series of safety incidents during June – September 2017, both DFCCIL and the contractors have initiated corrective actions, overall and at the constructions sites. Both the CST and Systems contractors are continuing to make improvements to their environment management practices. From January 2017, the contractor and PMC are using a 24 point check list to verify environment and safety aspects at project facilities. However, environment management practices at new work fronts requires sustained attention.
