Component 1: Improving the Quality and Relevance of TVET Programs in Project Schools has noted the following progress: (i) the two committees (School-Industry Collaboration Committee and the Industrial Advisory Committees) have been established in each of the nine project schools to strengthen and institutionalize the linkage between schools and industries. They are functional and involved in the development of curriculum standards, textbooks and learning resources, teaching assessment; (ii) examples of school-industry cooperation were disseminated; (iii) industrial surveys for the pilot specialties were conducted and survey reports drafted to inform the development of CBT standards; (iv) trainings, technical assistance and other consultancy services related to CBT Curriculum and teaching learning materials development have been carried out but some schools require additional capacity building; (v) international and domestic trainings were designed and delivered to train school managers and teachers but the quality and quantity of training programs varied among the nine project schools; (vi) a teacher and student assessment manual has been developed; (vii) upgrading of key facilities is progressing albeit at different paces; and (viii) capacity building of the two disadvantaged TVET schools has been successfully carried out. Component 2 “Strengthening Provincial Capacity in Coordination, Policy Development, and Monitoring and Evaluation” has reported the following progress: (i) the PMO is fully staffed and functional but could increase pro-activity especially around procurement process management and counterpart funding mobilization; (ii) an inter-departmental TVET coordination committee was organized but is not functioning so that alternative solutions are being considered (i.e., transfer of responsibility to possible other, more capable government entities); (iii) support the school-level development of CBT programs is being provided and regular visits to project schools by curriculum development experts carried out; (iv) knowledge sharing activities among the project schools and with non-project schools in the province is being done, and workshops, trainings and study tours on school-industry collaboration, project management and project school-level reform experiences have been organized; and (v) M&E activities are being carried out and data collected but more attention needs to be paid to improve data quality and ensure proper application of the technical requirements of the proposed IE.
