This is evident in the sustained momentum over the past year since the October 2011 mission. At this point of the project, it is critical to maintain the capacity of the Project Management Team (PMT) at an adequate level of staffing to ensure successful implementation and satisfactory closing. The Project restructuring was approved by the Bank management, and this is expected to help the Ministry of Education focus on major activities to ensure successful achievement of the Project Development Objective (PDO). The changes are: (i) excluding two small activities (school mapping and investment planning, and school design manual); and (ii) revising Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR8069 the Results Framework to ensure realism and relevance to the PDO and components. To date, of the SDR 60 million (US$106.49 million equivalent - total project amount), commitments amount to US$66.4 million, of which disbursements reached US$20.88 million in September 2012 and exceeded the May 2012 target of US$17 million. All 46 contracts (for the 48 schools) have been awarded. Of the 48 schools, 6 have been completed. Work for Public Disclosure Copy an additional 6 schools has reached an average physical progress rate of more than 80 percent, and 4 of these schools will be completed by December 2012. The MOE will supply schools that are ready for operations with furniture and equipment from its existing stock until the new furniture and equipment financed by the project are delivered (these items are currently being procured to be delivered by May 2013). The technical assistance contract to build the MOE’s capacity to develop new curricula for general education was signed in October 2012, albeit with delay vis-à-vis the target date of June 2012 and the technical assistance contract to develop training materials and train trainers to provide training on new teaching methods to approximately 6,000 new teachers is expected to be signed in November 2012.
