In South Asia, where more than one billion people live on less than $2 a day, the global down- turn is hitting the poorest the hardest. IFC's strategy is to increase access to infrastructure, support economic growth in rural areas, and help the region deal with the impacts of climate change. IFC is currently advising on six mandates in two countries.
