Once constructed, the scheme is expected to provide more than 19,000 residents of Guldara, Toskala, E.Khojaev, Zardolubog, Khubek, Aral and Zarkamar with access to safe drinking water. Construction works will be accompanied by community wide communication and behavior change campaign currently under development. Detailed engineering design of the remaining packages has been delayed, partially due to COVID-19 precautions and recommended self-isolation requirements. Selection of social institutions for construction of WASH facilities in Vosse was completed with 28 schools and 12 healthcare facilities prioritized for project investments and agreed with the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. The Terms of References for preparation of sample designs for WASH facilities and detailed engineering designs for selected social institutions of Vosse district is currently under finalization. 6/24/2020 Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project (P162637) At the national level, following the approval of the Water Code and the Drinking Water Law, the Government of Tajikistan has requested the World Bank's support in conducting an institutional options assessment for the WSS sector. This assessment has been launched by the bank with the draft mapping of functions in the WSS sector and recommendations for alternative redistribution of functions based on other compatible models will be consulted within the sector and publicly, once the travel restrictions are lifted. The project's baseline survey for Vosse district is expected to be launched in July. The survey is expected to provide baseline value for the indicator measuring time spent by women and girls per day on water collection in target project areas and provide quantitative and qualitative assessment of other indicators on socio-economic profiles of the households, main sources of water, water storage and handling practices, sanitation conditions, level of WSS services, payment practices, etc. The survey will include 600 households in Vosse district to start with.
