Two of the six planned demonstration sites have now completed soil excavation (remediation is ongoing), one is under preparation of remediation plan, and one is dropped from the project. Another demonstration site has been provisionally identified, and the sixth is still in identification stage. Liaoning will try to identify another site to replace the dropped site. The project also continues to make progress in (a) developing national technical guidelines that will 12/31/2018 Page 1 of 7 Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report China Contaminated Site Management Project (P145533) complement implementation of China’s Soil Action Plan and the newly issued Law on Soil Pollution Prevention and Control for addressing soil pollution issues, (b) completing systematic training materials for government officials and contaminated site cleanup practitioners and site owners, (c) carrying out studies on soil/groundwater pollution prevention, and (d) developing green finance options for contaminated site remediation and pollution prevention.
