However, after changes to the Medium and Long Term Railway Network plan, the line was changed to a higher speed (250 kph) passenger-only line. The project was restructured February 6, 2013, to reflect this change. The 847 km long railway was put into operation at the designed maximum speed of 250 km/h on December 26, 2014, and no significant technical problems have been reported. During the first year's operation, 4.45 million people took HSR from Guizhou province, of which 3.3 million (74%) of travellers were heading to Guangxi or Guangdong. At present, 26 pairs of stopping trains are operated daily between Guiyang and Guilin and 34 pairs of trains between Guilin and Guangzhou. In addition, two train pairs daily run direct between Guiyang and Guangzhou.
