The Sindh Irrigation Department (SID) component has demonstrated commendable performance especially on the civil works activity, which includes flood and drought mitigation investments. All infrastructure contracts have been awarded, including 9 flood embankments and 15 small dams worth approximately US$ 60 million. While 8 embankments civil works have been completed, the remaining works are expected to be completed by June 2020, well before the project closing date of February 2022. These interventions have reduced the vulnerability of more than 3 million people in Sindh so far. Progress on technical assistance sub-components needs to be accelerated to ensure that project development gains are institutionalized beyond the infrastructure investments. 12/12/2019 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Sindh Resilience Project (P155350) The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) component has faced implementation delays since the beginning of the project due to frequent staffing changes and capacity constraints. However, good progress has been made over the last 6 months and a clear roadmap has been developed by the PDMA Sindh to bring implementation back on track. The PDMA has moved ahead on implementing key project activities related to multi-hazard vulnerability risk assessments, community-based disaster risk management program and training and capacity building of government officials.
