                                SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION

                              Meeting of the Executive Directors

                                          March 29, 2012


       The Executive Directors approved an additional credit to the Republic of Kenya for the
Kenya Transparency and Communications Infrastructure Project in the amount of SDR 35.6
million (US$55.1 million equivalent) on the payment terms and conditions set out in the
President’s Memorandum (IDA/R2012-0064).

        Directors expressed support for the project and the activities being proposed to support
the Government’s strategy and efforts to enhance public sector management. Directors also
noted the project’s alignment with the Country Assistance Strategy, plans for transformation of
Kenya’s political governance system under Vision 2030 and the draft Public Finance
Management Reform Strategy (2011-2016). Directors underscored the importance of
establishing partnerships with the private sector to further government goals and replicate the
project within the region. Directors emphasized the need for utmost diligence in implementation
of the project as well as coordination with other countries participating in the program.





