Component 1 (Performance-based Financing): The national program for screening of NCDs (hypertension, diabetes, and cervical cancer) supported by the Project has been launched starting in January, 2015, and primary health care providers have been trained to implement the screening program. Development of the main tools and design for Primary Healthcare Report-Analytical Webpage was completed in January 2015. Procurement of IT equipment for PHC providers and medical equipment for cervical precancerous cases follow up has started. Development of public awareness materials on NCDs (posters, brochures, SMS messages, TV ads, Radio ads, different articles, etc.) has started. Component 2 (Hospital Modernization): Work to rehabilitate the national Hematology Center to provide modern health care services, including the creation of a Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit, is underway. The design of a new national oncology inpatient facility and radiotherapy center has also been initiated and is expected to result in increased access by the population to quality cancer treatment services. The next implementation support visit is planned for mid-June 2015.
