There are currently 4 subprojects under execution. The execution of these works and the activities under the institutional strengthening component will contribute directly to the Result of the Country Partnership Strategy for FY 2015-2018 "Increasing access to safe drinking water and sanitation and services for the bottom 40 percent in low-income provinces and areas." and the achievement of the project development objective. 1. The first sub project is the construction of the water treatment plant and distribution lines for the Pampa del Indio - Presidencia Roca, Chaco and other 5 localities. As well public taps will be installed in rural schools to benefit disperse rural population (half of which are indigenous communities from the QOM group). Works have started in March 2013 and physical progress was estimated to be 85 percent. This subproject would improve access to potable water to 34,000 inhabitants once is finished, of which 40 percent are poor (exceeding PDO indicator #2 target of 30 percent). Meanwhile, indigenous women living in the sub project area, are benefiting from the project support in the development of an strategy for handcraft production, cooperative association, and tourism initiative (the QOM culture route), this initiative is being supported both by this project and the Bank's financed Norte Grande Roads project. Part of the support includes the construction of six community centers, of which 3 might be constructed by the project (the other 3 were built under the Norte Grande Roads). In addition, the Provincial institution for statistical and census data to conducted a field survey to collect the baseline data for the impact evaluation, the designed was developed through Bank's support. The baseline data was collected and is being analyzed. The Impact Evaluation will help understand the effects of multi-sectoral investments such as the ones done in Pampa del Indio Municipality that received a road improvement (through the Norte Grande Roads) and will receive water improvement services. 2. The second subproject is the urban drainage project in Yerba-Buena in Tucuman. Works have started on November 2013. Physical progress is estimated to be 73 percent. This subproject would benefit about 16.400 people from flooding impacts. 3. The third sub project is the construction of two water treatment plants and an aqueducts for the communities of Wichi, Nueva Pompeya and Fuerte Esperanza in the Chaco Province (in an area known as the impenetrable chaqueño). This subproject would improve sustainable access to potable water to 16.500 people once finished, most of them from the Toba and Wichi indigenous communities among the poorest in Argentina. The works have started on January 2015 and a 25 percent physical progress is estimated. Under this subproject public taps and rainwater harvesting systems are being constructed to benefit rural disperse indigenous communities. 4. The fourth subproject is complementary to the urban drainage works in Yerbabuena Tucuman, that are currently being constructed. The new drainage canal (San Luis) is part of the area strategic master plan, and will be complemented by a couple of green-structural measures (infiltration-retention areas), and a review of the municipality's legal framework. The construction of this subproject has just started. On the other hand, the project is successfully supporting public water utilities including SAMEEP in Chaco, SAT in Tucuman, Aguas de Catamarca, Aguas de Formosa, and Aguas de Corrientes. The engagement level is different with each one, being SAMEEP, SAT and Aguas de Formosa, the ones with more development. The first step with each one of the utilities was to develop an institutional strengthening plan, that included an information system. This was followed by the development of water quality laboratory and provision of water meter to increase water utilities operational efficiency and overall sustainability. Some of the utilities are also developing strategies for automatize their process and increase the operational efficiency. A US$15 million activity list is planned to support these activities. 10/14/2016 Page 2 of 7 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report AR Norte Grande Water Infrastructure (P120211) Risks Systematic Operations Risk-rating Tool Risk Category Rating at Approval Previous Rating Current Rating Political and Governance  --  Moderate  Moderate Macroeconomic  --  Moderate  Moderate Sector Strategies and Policies  --  Moderate  Moderate Technical Design of Project or Program  --  Low  Low Institutional Capacity for Implementation and Sustainability  --  Low  Low Fiduciary  --  Moderate  Moderate Environment and Social  --  Moderate  Moderate Stakeholders  --  Moderate  Moderate Other  --  --  -- Overall  --  Moderate  Moderate Results Project Development Objective Indicators PHINDPDOTBL  Number of people in urban areas provided with access to Improved Water Sources under the project (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 -- 0.00 50500.00 Date 17-Nov-2010 -- 15-Sep-2016 31-Mar-2017 Comments The reported value correspond to the 90 wells constructred under the indigenous people's plan in the Wichi aqueduct. 10/14/2016 Page 3 of 7 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report AR Norte Grande Water Infrastructure (P120211) PHINDPDOTBL  Number of people in the NGR that benefits from urban drainage networks built under the Project (Amount(USD), Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 -- 0.00 40000.00 Date 17-Nov-2010 -- 15-Sep-2016 31-Mar-2017 Comments Two subproject are being built.
