All grant-funds, which totaled USD $34,000,000 were disbursed prior to the grant’s closing, and the Project Development Objectives in support of increasing school enrollment and retention in project supported schools, with a special focus on girls’ participation, and to develop mechanisms for information collection and use for improved management of education, were largely achieved. The European Union financing became effective on August 30, 2019 and USD $7,000,000 were disbursed to the Government. The Ministry and PIU’s focus since effectiveness have been on ensuring implementation readiness, and good progress has been made to date. The Project’s first and productive Project Coordination Committee – chaired by the Secretary of Education Department and counting with participation of the EU and WB teams – took place on November 26.
