The Additional Financing (AF) of US$50m from International Development Association was approved on July 8, 2021. The signing of the AF took place on September 15, 2021. The AF will provide support to sustain the achievements under SSDP. The AF will support reducing dropouts through strengthened implementation of scholarships at secondary level, mitigate learning losses and strengthen the data and assessment systems. The original IDA credit and GPE TF-B0095 were also extended by a year to respond to COVID 19 impact in the education sector. The progress towards the Program Development Objectives is rated as Moderately Satisfactory. Of the seven KPIs, five are on track (Equity, TST, implementation of alternative mode of learning, implementation of catch-up programs and governance) to be achieved by the revised closing date, progress on one is mixed (survival rate), while the status of the KPI on learning outcomes (Grade 8 National Assessment of Student Achievement (NASA) is not yet known. NASA Grade 8 was held earlier in the calendar year but the analysis of the results is not yet completed.
