Recurrent socio-political crises and COVID-19 crisis caused important delays in the project implementation and conformation of Project Implementation Unit (PIU). The implementation of the CERC which was activated on April 23, 2020 for an amount of US$ 9.9 million is progressing satisfactorily and confirming the huge demand for support from the farmers. To-date, more than 16,000 agricultural households have benefited from the CERC (corresponding to more than 80,000 people, including family members). The implementation for the fall 2020-winter 2021 agricultural campaign is underway. This is planned to cover more than 9,000 agricultural households. 5/28/2021 Page 1 of 7 Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Resilient Productive Landscapes in Haiti (P162908) The main objective of the CERC is to safeguard production for the (i) spring-summer 2020 and (ii) fall 2020-winter 2021 cropping seasons, given that a reduction in remittances (35% of GDP prior to COVID-19) will affect the capacities of the farmers to finance their costs of production. Significant progress has been made in the fulfillment of the disbursement conditions for the endowment of the Haitian Biodiversity Fund (USD 3 million), which is expected to be fully met before the end of June 2021. The analysis of the results shows that (i) the total number of beneficiary agricultural households for the spring agricultural season had reached 16,169 (compared to a total of 11,595 initially targeted for the period), which corresponds to more than 80,000 people, including family members; (ii) farming and technical support was provided to cultivate 11,318 hectares of cropland (compared to a total of 8,125 hectares initially planned); (iii) 163 tons of seeds were provided to beneficiary farmers (compared to a total of 133 tons planned) and (iv) 1,334 tons of fertilizer were provided to farmers (compared to 1,470 planned). Thanks to the CERC, - the number of farmers receiving urgent production inputs and services has already reached 16,169 against a target of 21,490 at the end of the project; - the percentage of beneficiaries satisfied with Project interventions (disaggregated by gender) has already reached 85 percent against the final target of 75 percent at project closing; and - the number of farmers provided with climate-resilient crop varieties/seeds has already reached the final target of 550 beneficiaries with a percentage of 40 percent of female (against a target of 33%) long before the closing date. As far as non emergency activities under other components are concerned, they have not yet started or reached their targets. These activities are expected to start in the coming months and generate results with the hiring of the operators who will provide technical assistance to the Project Team and the Ministries.
