The signing of the loan agreement took place in Baghdad on March 2, 2014. The Legal Opinion (the only condition for Effectiveness) was submitted to the Bank on March 30, 2015 and the Loan was declared effective on the same day. 1. The two major works contracts along Expressway No. 1 in Southern Iraq estiamted at USD 215 million (60% of the loan) have been awarded in December 2015. Total contracted value for sections R7 and R8 is about USD 181.5 million (comprising 51% of the loan) with saving of USD 30 million from the international competitive process; 2. Disbursement has increased this FY and since December 2015 reaching about 7% (or USD 24 million) of the loan amount. An additional 2% (or USD 6 million) of disbursement may be achieved before end of FY16. Disbursement is expected to reach 39% (or USD 115 million) of the loan proceeds by end of FY 17. 3. Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and the Resettlement Action Plan for the North - South Transport Corridor (road section between Girsheen and Suheila intersection in KRG) has been submitted to the Bank for review and clearance to be disclosed in the InfoShop; 4. Pre-qualification of Bidders evaluation for the North - South Transport Corridor (road section between Girsheen and Suheila intersection in KRG) has been cancelled and procedure revised to post-qualification. A post qualification process will be initiated in June 2016 with contract signing expected in September 2016; 5. Key TA activities are expected to be launched by September 2016; 6. Due Diligence training for members of the PMTs has been carried out during the recent mission held in May which was delivered by lead specialist from INT-Prevention team. 7. As security conditions permits in Southern Iraq, the team plans to conduct regular field visits to review progress in technical implementation as well as compliance with the triggered safeguards policies. 8. Co-financing provided by IsDB loan has achieved important progress and is expected to be fully on track by end July 2016.
