A firm is now on board to undertake the Feasibility Study and design for the proposed RSIF Permanent Fund. -Selection of additional African Host Universities (AHUs) is completed. Selection of the second cohort of the PhD Scholars is advanced. Additional four international partner institutions were identified to support the sandwich program and capacity bundling through structured partnerships. The scoping workshop will be held in October 2019 to discuss key gaps in the AHU's (selected training programs) and to design relevant interventions. -Regarding research and innovation grants, a call for proposals for Window 3 Type 1 (Institutional Capacity Building Program Grant) was launched and will close on September 30, 2019; a call for Window 3 Type 2 (Cooperability Grants) was also launched and will close on November 30, 2019; and a call for Window 2 Type 1 (Research Awards) was also published and will close on November 30, 2019. Component 2: Scholarship and Research Grants for ASET. The first cohort of 15 RSIF Scholars are progressing well: • Six students are matched (research areas and supervisors) with the Korea Institute of Science. Two students of the six are supported by the Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation as Samsung Hope Scholars for the sandwich program; • Six students matched (research areas and supervisors) with WPI in the US; and • Three students are tentatively matched (research areas and areas) with the BeCA facility in Nairobi, Kenya, awaiting discussions with their supervisors and scientists at the International Livestock Research Institute.
