Theproject was restructured in June 2012 and the closing date of the project extended until June 2013. This restructuringwillallowthe completion of pending activities such as the Public Disclosure Copy impact evaluation of the youth training component implemented by theMinistryofLabor. One million dollars have been reallocated from component 3 (Ministry of Education) to component 1 (MinistryofLabor). Theproject's main component (training at-risk youth) has been implemented efficiently, allowing theimplementingagency(Ministry ofLabor, MoL) to save $2.7m. which was reallocated to include a new fourth component in 2010. The mainactivitycarried out with theresources from component 2 (institutional strengthening) is the impact evaluation of the youthtrainingprogram. Component 3(Basic Adult Education, EBA), implemented by the Ministry of Education (MINERD) has had asluggishdisbursement pace due to thefailure of the competitive selection process carried out to select a firm to elaborate andpublish thetextbooks of the new EBAcurricula. MINERD presented a strategy to the Bank to complete the remaining activities withindividualconsultants and initialprogress has been made towards the elaboration of the twelve modules of the new educationcurricula. Thetemporary employmentprogram `Santiago Trabaja', implemented as pilot program in component 4, reached 3,335beneficiaries byJuly2012 (83.4% of theinitial target). The last call for proposals is scheduled for January 2013.
