The limited data available suggest that the prevalence of poor health and malnutrition in Nepal is as high as anywhere in the world. This paper focuses on child malnutrition in the Terai or southern plains region of Nepal. The data were obtained from a survey of subsistence farm households in the Terai districts of Bara and Rautahat.
