The objective of the Sub-regional Conference on lead elimination in West Africa was to finalize the plan of action for West African countries, The main conclusions of the Conference were: production of a single grade of gasoline by 2005, at the sub-regional level (NO93); definition of harmonized technical specifications by the end of 2002; identification of investment needs from the sub-region's refineries by October 2002; harmonization of regulations by 2005 at the latest; and, adoption of accompanying measures, such as the revision of internal taxation on vehicles, production of a data bank, and implementation of awareness and training campaigns, that could be organized by the AFRICACLEAN network. ... See More +
