Despite delays in operationalizing the second grant, all the intermediate results indicators have been achieved by the project, and two out of three Project Development Objective (PDO) indicators have been achieved. The EITI Board, on February 13th, 2019, and following the conclusion of the second Validation of 2019 found that Albania had made ‘meaningful progress, with considerable improvements across individual requirements’ under the EITI Standard. Albania’s second validation under the EITI Standard has commenced, and the Albania EITI Project will continue supporting Albania towards retaining, and further enhancing, its level of compliance under EITI. The Albania EITI Project is scheduled to close on April 30, 2020, prior to which the disbursement of the as-yet undisbursed second grant must be expedited. The World Bank project team will continue providing technical assistance and supervisory support towards the Albania EITI project.
