The 2014 annual work plan (AWP) remains aligned with the S&OP and progress in the implementation of AFAAS’ 2014 annual work plan (AWP) is satisfactory, albeit, somewhat delayed. In 2014, AFAAS was actively engaged in a number of partnership platforms on the implementation of CAADP. Several country fora launches and public awareness and sensitization activities were conducted in many countries. Technical backstopping and scoping visits were made by the AFAAS Secretariat staff and Board members to several countries, as well. A stakeholder and institutional analysis, as well as a scoping study on gender, in close collaboration with FARA, has been launched. In terms of partnerships, AFAAS has signed MoUs with ASARECA and Access Agriculture. Partnerships with GFRAS, RESCAR and the other sub-regional organizations have been strengthened. The Virtual Social Networking Platform (VSNP) is now operational and its activities have picked up during the last year. In general, AFAAS has had a successful year and implementation progress is satisfactory. Implementation of the MDTF at the national level through sub-grants to Country Fora is, however, on hold until AFAAS' grant award guidelines (GAG) have been approved by the Bank prior to the issuance of the first sub-grant. The Bank is currently reviewing the GAG and approval is expected at the beginning of January, following which implementation at the national level is expected to increase.
