After a long delay, the contractor has now been granted access to the quarry site and borrow pits and RAP have been prepared for some additional 24 Km. Status of implementation of associated projects: This is now the fifth time that Bank team visited the Modjo-Hawassa road (all four Lots). During the visits the team met and discussed project implementation issues with all contractors and consultants. Progress of construction on each of these Lot is: 80 % in Lot 1 (AfDB), 54% in Lot 2 (Korea Exim Bank), 3% in Lot 3 (World Bank), and 9% in Lot 4 (China Exim Bank). 9/16/2019 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Ethiopia- Expressway Development Support Project (P148850) Social safeguards: there are GRMs in place in all Lots, which are functional and accessible to PAPs. Contractors' and consultants' staff in all Lots have signed ERA's standard Code of Conducts which was reviewed by the World Bank. Subcontractors have not yet signed the said CoC. which ERA is working on. Technical assistance to Government: The two consultancy services (i) design of an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) along the Modjo- Hawassa corridor (ERA), and (ii). road safety audit on selected corridor sections on 2000km are going well. Both consultants have produced inception reports detailing how they will do the assignment. The reports have been reviewed and approved by ERA and MoT for the first and second services respectively. The technical assistance to ERA and Ministry of Transport (MoT), including a TA to the Addis-Adam Toll Road Enterprise and piloting road safety enforcements on selected corridors are at advanced stage of procurement, with a plan to conclude the procurement before the end of September 2019.
