The Project Steering Committee has updated the projects priority list, for which it would like MINIS to finance a number of studies, noting that MINIS is entirely limited to provide support for studies and is not financing the investment costs of any of these priority infrastructure projects. The list includes: (i) Flow regulation of the Orkhon river and construction of water reservoir complex; (ii) Shuren Hydropower plant; (iii) Integrated Steel Complex with Infrastructure in the central region of Darkhan-Selengea; (iv) Expansion of Tavan Tolgoi Thermal Power Station; (v) Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for Darlhan Oil Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR10929 Refinery Plant; and (vi) Extension of Coal Mine "Baganuur" LLC. The three predefined priority including two railway projects and a real time management system have been dropped from the priority list. Working groups have been established in each line ministry and followed the completion of phase 1 concerning with the preparation of background reports and the consolidation of available information and data on the first 4 project in the priority list. Moreover, the implementation of phase II (pre-feasibility studies) is underway as the procurement process for the selection of consultants has started and pre-feasibility studies are expected to be completed from January to June 2014. Based on the safeguards Public Disclosure Copy screening in accordance with the project Environmental and Social Management Framework, projects will be recommended for phase III (preparation of the full feasibility studies for eligible priority projects) The AusAID is interested in expanding the scope of component III (Strengthening Groundwater Management) and the Administration Agreement has been signed to allocate and additional financing of $5.0 million as a grant from AusAID. The additional financing objective is to build the local capacity in groundwater monitoring and management and promote the development of 3 River Basin Administrations including North Gobi hills – Khalkh mid steppe (basin 17), Galba-Uush-Dolood Gobi (basin 18) and Altai south Gobi (basin 20).
