No I. PROJECT STATUS AND RATIONALE FOR RESTRUCTURING 1. The Mauritius Statistical Capacity Building Project is financed by the Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Statistical Capacity Building program. The project represents a comprehensive approach aimed at rationalizing Mauritius’ statistical capacity and includes a broad range of activities arranged around the four components: Component 1 – Building Capacity of Statistics Mauritius in Survey Design and Data Collection: There are several tasks involved in in this component, with the goal of improving the skills of Statistics Mauritius in survey design and data collection. Component 2 – Building Statistical Capacity in Analytics: This component is helping Statistics Mauritius is to improve the ability of the staff to use the most up-to-date techniques in analyzing the data they collect. Component 3 – Building the Capacity of Statistics Mauritius in Data Cataloguing and Dissemination: This component provides training for Statistics Mauritius staff to improve data dissemination and make data more usable, accessible, timely and reliable. Component 4 – Purchase of Equipment: Implementation of a CAPI pilot will require the purchase of tablets for data collection, management, and transfer. 2. The Grant was approved on June 16, 2017 and became effective on August 16, 2017. Disbursement of the project started 10 months after effectiveness. At present, the disbursement rate is at 45%. The delay in first disbursement was due to initial difficulties in the identification of potential candidates to conduct training The World Bank Mauritius Statistical Capacity Building Project (P163248) activities. The following activities have been completed: training in survey-to-survey imputation and small area estimation techniques, CAPI, purchase of tablets. 3. Due to these delays, Statistics Mauritius has asked for a 5-month extension of the closing date to allow completion of the project. In addition to the request, Statistics Mauritius provided a progress report for all ongoing activities, as well as updated procurement plan. Proposed extension has been agreed with TFSCB Management. II. DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CHANGES 4. The proposed Level 2 Restructuring is to extend the project closing date is extended from July 2, 2019 to December 31, 2019. The extension will allow completion of all planned activities in order to achieve the project development objective. I.
