Regional – CAMP4ASB’s Regional Coordination Unit (RCU) is carrying out the activities approved by the Program’s Regional Steering Committee at its October 2016 meeting for the implementation of the Regional Climate Knowledge Service Component, primarily the assessment of the Central Asian countries’ climate-related knowledge and capacity needs to inform the prioritization of CAMP4ASB’s knowledge management activities (which will take place in the second half of Calendar Year 2017). This scoping includes in-country consultations with government agencies, academia, and civil society organizations as well as a regional workshop with participation of development partners to ensure maximum synergy with their on-going or planned climate knowledge and capacity initiatives. Tajikistan – The early operationalization of the Climate Investment Facility is satisfactory. Total of $219,193 in 140 sub-loans have been extended so far, benefitting 805 people (46% being female). Eight trainings were organized in Dushanbe, Khatlon, and Sugd regions for credit experts and managers of PFIs, while facilitating organizations supported community investment planning and provided technical assistance as well as organizational support to beneficiaries in the targeted districts. Uzbekistan – IDA Financing Agreement for Uzbekistan became effective on April 28, 2017. In response to a request from the Government, the project area has been expanded and now includes Bukhara and Navoi oblasts, the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm Province. The Rural Restructuring Agency, the Project’s Implementing Agency in Uzbekistan, is completing staffing and has already embarked on implementation: first Subsidiary Loan Agreements have been signed and first sub-loan applications have been received already.
