Component 2: Capacity building: 12 people from 4 deconcentrated regional services (STD) were trained including: seeds controllers, genie rural (from Sofia and Sava regions) and water services. 913 producers benefited from capacity building on improved rice techniques, agroforestry and seeds productions. Of which, 633 adopted improved rice techniques. Implementation of the priority investments: The rehabilitation of 3 irrigation schemes, for a total of 3 500 ha are ongoing. The works are expected to be completed by February 2020. The rehabilitation of 10 other schemes (5 000 ha) will start in early 2020, all the studies are available and the procurement processes are ongoing. The rehabilitation of a feeder road (32km, RIP117) is expected to start in the first quarter of 2020, all the studies/designs are available, procurement of firms is ongoing. Component 3: Project management: Central and Regional Implementation Unit are fully staffed and operational. Despite the change in regional director in charge of agriculture, environment and water, all the regional coordinators were kept except the one in Analanjirofo following the request of the Ministry.
