The first lot of logistical equipment for MettelSat has been delivered and the studies to rehabilitate the headquarters in Kinshasa have been finalized and the bidding process was launched. Studies to rehabilitate satellite offices are ongoing. The analysis of technical needs for hydromet equipment has also been finalized (including for the Early Warning System implementation), and the bidding documents are being prepared. Implementation is to be kept on a tight timeline as part of project grant funds expire on December 31, 2019. In collaboration with WMO and through the CREWS trust fund implemented in parallel to the project, MettelSat is starting to work on a National Climate Services Framework.
