Under Component 1, the delay in the release of community development grants (CDGs) and disaster recovery grants (DRGs), coupled with an unexpectedly large number of water supply system sub-projects have delayed the implementation of DRG sub-projects and the first cycle of CDGs by about six months. It will be important for the project coordination unit (PCU) to strengthen the management and scheduling of community support activities to avoid further delays leading up to the roll-out of the second cycle of CDGs, which should occur by latest early 2018. Under Component 2, there has been good overall progress. With the completion of Call 1 and the selection of Call 2 agribusiness partnerships, there will be potentially 47 agribusiness partnerships operational by the middle of 2017. There has been some progress with the Agricultural Supplemental Equity Facility (ASEF) grants although these will need promotion to support adequate up-take. For agriculture commercialization for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL), institutional and industry support as well as participatory action research are progressing well; however, there were delays with the training activities. The disaster recovery and resilience activities have been mostly completed with the exception of several cocoa and copra driers. The next review mission will be the mid-term review scheduled tentatively for late August, 2017. This shortfall is due in part to the considerable and unanticipated time took to establish processes for reviewing and selecting agribusiness partnerships. There are further 2 agribusiness partnerships under Call 1 pending approval and 2 to be resubmitted, which would bring the total to 22, and with 27 potential under Call 2, there could be as many as 49 agribusiness partnerships operational by the middle of Year 3 (2017). If all 22 Call 1 and all 27 Call 2 agribusiness partnerships become operational, these 49 agribusiness partnerships/grants would represent 62 percent of the target value of 79 grants, yet would consume 99 percent of the total budget allocated for agribusiness partnership grants. 4/11/2017 Page 7 of 13 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Solomon Islands Rural Development Program II (P149282) PHINDIRITBL  Increase in area of crops with improved farming practices under partnerships (Percentage, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 0.00 0.00 25.00 Date 27-Feb-2015 14-Dec-2015 13-Feb-2017 28-Feb-2020 Comments C2PMU is currently collecting baseline data for this indicator.
