The concept design for the Trunk Roads component has been agreed on and the bids are expected to be floated in February 2020. The Environment Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) are being produced along with the concept designs. The contract for Consultancy Services for Expanding Road Asset Management System (RAMS) and Upgrading of GIS has also been signed and the consultancy services have started. The selection of the consultant that will carry out monitoring/supervision of the works has reached the technical evaluation stage. Component 2: Progress on this component is satisfactory with several activities already completed and the few remaining activities at the final stages of implementation. The first phase of most of the activities being implemented by the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) have been 1/21/2020 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Transport Sector Improvement Project (P151026) completed and the second phase of the activities are yet to be rolled out. One major study being supported under this component is the transitioning of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) into a National Road Safety Authority (NRSA). The NRSA Bill was passed by the Parliament of Ghana and Accented by the President of the Republic of Ghana on August 3, 2019. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is managing two activities, first to study and develop a model to roll out the use of Private Vehicle Garages (Private Vehicle Test Stations, PVTS) for vehicle testing and inspections, and second, to support the integration of the many isolated ICT systems of the DVLA. The consultancy services for both activities have reached completion and the preparatory activities for the implementation of the study recommendations have started. Component 3: Activities under this component are progressing steadily. The three Agency Implementation Teams (AITs) and the Project Coordination office have been established and institutional support has been provided for the efficient implementation of the day to day project activities. The review of the National Transport Policy (NTP) of 2008 is complete and is to be submitted to Cabinet for approval. There has also been good progress made with the implementation of both the national and international capacity building activities.
