The 2014 Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Act is currently under review and is expected to reflect a new institutional construct in which DRDM will be upgraded. In the context of strengthening the institutional and legal framework for DRM, two district protocols for preparedness and response are currently being updated for Pointed Larue and Au Cap. Between 2014-2017, DRDM district protocols for preparedness and response were piloted in two districts, Pointed Larue and Au Cap, where it successfully conducted a set annual drills and exercises; education and awareness materials were also developed. Moving forward, it will be necessary to standardize a template for drills' assessments and implement at least one drill/year to be linked with districts plans under indicator 1.2 and/or sectoral contingency plans under indicator 2.2. The education sector contingency plan has been finalized. The update for the health sector contingency plan is still under implementation. The epidemic response plan and the preparation of a disease vector control plan were updated to include plague mitigation activities. The priorities identified for the coming years include: (i) updating the Tourism Contingency Plan and (ii) the elaboration of the Hazmat Contingency Plan which will complement the National Oil Spill Contingency Plan (NOSCP). The National Geospatial Working Group, which encompasses 14 different institutions, established as a geospatial risk data sharing platform, will be preparing a working program to strengthen the data sharing platform. Priorities include: (i) advancing in the establishment of a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) and (ii) drafting a spatial data sharing policy paper. Related to integrating risk reduction into development planning, several Ministries have reported important advances: (i) under the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, the flood and coastal erosion master plan has been finalized; and (ii) under the Ministry of Habitat, Infrastructures and Land Transport (MHILT), is including a concept from DRDM and Ministry of environment; in a development project approval (iii) under the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD): advances have been made in DRM in the Education Sector Medium- Term Strategic Plan 2013-2017 and in the curricula; (iv) under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs (MHSA) the Seychelles national health strategic plan 2016-2020 has been formulated and preliminary safe hospitals assessments were conducted; (v) Ministry of Tourism has generated guidelines for disaster preparedness; and (vi) the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has developed a national Climate Smart Agriculture Investment Framework (CSAIF 2015 – 2020). In addition, the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has developed a national Climate Smart Agriculture Investment Framework (CSAIF 2015 – 2020).
