Based on 2016 EMIS data, a total of 5.3 million boys and 3.4 million girls account for the total enrollment in grades 1 to 12 against the end targets for December 2017 of 5.2 million for boys and 3.8 million for girls. These numbers are inclusive of permanently absent students who remain on the school registration for three years. Approximately, 112,000 teachers have graduated from the teacher training colleges so far. The number far exceeds the original target of 30,000 by the end of 2017. More than 71,000 teachers have completed INSET VI as of 2017, which is exceeding the original scope of INSET I- V provision. Therefore, progress towards achieving the PDO is rated Moderately Satisfactory. 2 . Out of 1,820 schools planned under the project 1,144 schools have been fully completed which accounts for 63% of the total number of schools planned under EQUIP I, II and the additional financing (AF) phase. 3 . The non-civil works activities are progressing well. The Directorate of Social Mobilization and School Shuras (DSMS) has been able to re-open 163 schools in various provinces in the past two years. The directorate was advised to capture the lessons learnt so far and develop an effective strategy for -reopening of schools that can be operationalized for the remaining of other closed schools than remain closed across Afghanistan. 4 . The teacher training component continues to progress well. A training plan has been developed and operationalized to ensure that all teachers and administrators have received the complete set of training modules. The Teacher Education Directorate will continue delivering these training and in the meantime collect information for the teacher's mapping exercise which is crucial for better planning and deployment of qualified teachers across the country. 5 . The MoE continues to work towards strengthening the data systems within the Ministry. Enhancement and Integration of the MoE Payroll and EMIS system is currently ongoing. This integration will strengthen reliability and remove duplication in the data systems. 6 . The development of an on-line education atlas of schools in Afghanistan is underway. The atlas will help in presenting key education statistics and indicators on on-line maps which can be used for national level, sub-national and even school level information. Similarly, the MoE plans to install solar system at 13 Provincial Education Directorate which will improve connectivity between the provinces and Kabul. 7 . The country report for the SABER-EMIS in Afghanistan has been completed.
