Additional 811 farmers were identified for Cocoa rehabilitation bringing the total number of farmers under the tree crop programme to 3,569 with a total of 4,754.77 ha under rehabilitation, replanting and new planting. Participating female farmer (878) represent 24.6% of total farmers. Under the Cocoa programme, the total Cocoa farmers identified in 2016 ( 1,759 farmers) were supplied with the following farm tools, local materials, personal protection equipment and agro-chemicals: 176 pieces of Rotten baskets, 352 pieces of winnowing fanners, 880 pieces of bamboo mats (coffee), 7915, bamboo mats (cocoa), 1759 pieces of tarpaulin, 98,935 bottles of fungicides (86% cuprous oxide), 58,283 fungicide (6% metallxyl 60% cuprous oxide), 38,855 bottles of insecticide), 1,759 knapsack sprayers, 68 motorized sprayers, 352 plastic buckets, 2,663 pieces of carpenter hammers, 1,583 First Aid kits; 1,759 crocodile cutlasses, 1759 axes, 176 painting brushes, 1,583 rain boots, 1583 rain suits, 1,583 helmet caps (rubber type), 9,498 nose masks, 1,583 PVC rubber gloves, 1,759 metal files, 179 pieces of oil paints, 176 files, 7,036 packets of nails (3"), 7,036 packets of nails (4"nails), 1582 pieces of pruning shears. SOCODEVI continues to strengthen the 16 Farmers' Organizations (FOs) supported under the project (consisting of 10 existing cooperatives, 1 existing farmers' association, and 5 new FO created from the FFS/FBOs) with the assistance of the CDA. Templates of status and by- laws have been prepared and presented to the CDA Progress in delivering the training program is ongoing as per the planned schedule, with the participation of national consultants and the CDA with backstopping by SOCODEVI staff. 2. Field work in Dube run oil palm plantation resumed in April 2016 after WB clearance on the existing social issues and recommendation for start of operation. To date, 100 ha have been underbrushed and 40ha cleared for new planting which started late October. Ten (10) ha are under cultivation for food crops by 15 farmers. Renovation of Warehouses is 90% completed while the structure for the freedom Mills has to be redesigned and BoQs developed and work has started on these structures. the processing operation for FFBs earned the Cooperative a total of US$1,133 (LD10,000) in August 2016. Work with the Outgrowers in Grand Bassa County has progressed under the supervision of the Sub-Project Unit Staff. Out of the 54 Cooperative members, 34 obtained land development certificates and have completed underbrushing of 42.6 ha while 10 out of the 34 farmers planted 20 ha by October 2016. These farmers received 54 cutlasses, 216 sharpening files, 54 rain boots, 54 rain coats, 54 wheelborrows with too kits and spare tyres. 3. Appreciable progress is being made with the rubber sub-component being implemented in Montserrado County by MARCO and in Margibi County by Salala Rubber Corporation. a total of 400 ha (300 ha in 2015 and 100 ha in 2016) have been planted by 200 farmers of Todee Rubber Farmers multi- Purpose Farmers' Cooperative (TRFMC). the 150 farmers' applications for loan for the top dressing fertilizer provided by MARCO in 2015 and the additional 50 farmers are being processed by Afriland First bank Liberia with the Minimum Loan required pegged at US$7,000 for the period from planting to tapping. these additional 50 farmers of TRFMC's received the following budded stumps, farm tools and personal protection equipment: 77,400 budded stumps, 55 items of each of these cutlasses, sharpening files, pengalines, axes, garden hoes, rain boots, rain coats, gloves, First Aid Kits, linin ropes, spray cans, nose masks, 350 bags of Road Phosphate, 100 litres of Termister, 10,500 polythene bags. Substantial progress has been achieved in Margibi County working with SRC. the 100 participating farmers have planted 200 ha, under the guidance of the sub-Unit staff. SRC provided these farmers with budded stumps, farm tools and personal protection equipment: 106,402 stumps, 600 bags of Rock Phosphate, and 27 bags of Dolomite, 200 pieces of each of the following items crocodile cutlasses, axes, files, pingaline, gloves, regular hoe, and 100 pieces of rain boots, rain suits, spraying canes, nose masks, helmts, 25 pieces of rope. The Cooperative Development Agency (CDA) has conducted an assessment of the organizational as well as the institutional needs of the 100 farmers of Weala District in Margibi County to form a Cooperative by October 2016. The next major step for the formation of the cooperative is the training and capacity building to be carried out in November 2016.
