The PPCR Secretariat now comprises PPCR Project Manager, Financial Management Officer, Procurement Officer and Communications and Knowledge Management Officer. The Secretariat secured and rehabilitated office space, and subsequently procured office furniture and finally moved into its own office accommodation in March 2019. The Secretariat in coordination with the Environmental Affairs Department (EAD) and Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and Development (MoFEPD) has undertaken some critical project activities which include: i) Drafting and approval of the Secretariat’s Work Plan by the Expert Working Group on Adaptation; ii) Development of TORs for the Technical Studies on topics important to improving resilience in Malawi including: a) Climate Resilient 5/7/2019 Page 1 of 4 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Malawi Strategic Program for Climate Resilience (P163245) Integrated Watershed Management b) Climate Resilient Road Infrastructure, c) Opportunities to Modernize Malawi Climate Services and d) Impact of Climate Change on Fishery Ecosystems and Sustainable Fisheries Value Chains in Malawi; and, Advertisement and review of EOI for the stated technical studies. By 20 March 2019, following advertisement nationally and internationally, 31 Expressions of Interest were received from a range of organizations (11 Watershed Management; 11 Climate Resilient Transport; 6 Climate Services; 5 Fishery Ecosystems). The next step is for the Secretariat to expedite the selection and contracting of suitable organizations and initiation of the technical studies. The delays to the commencement of PPCR Secretariat also affected the recruitment of consultants to prepare the technical studies. 31 Expressions of Interest were received in March 2019 covering the 5 study areas. The successful consultants are expected to be recruited by 30 May 2019. The longest consultancy is expected to require up to 12 months to complete.
