A project restructuring was approved in February 2019 to extend the closing date of the additional financing from June 30, 2019 to June 30, 2020. All major infrastructure works completed have started to show visible benefits to local communities. The Mizingani sea wall became an iconic public space frequently visited by local residents and tourists. Installed street lights along main arterial roads had good beneficiary feedback. The small-scale investment works in Pemba Island yielded sound social and economic returns. However, there is a need to improve project management to deliver all project activities on time and to quality standards.
